WHO IS VHEMBE MUNICIPALITY?
Vhembe is situated in the Northern part of Limpopo Province, sharing borders with Zimbabwe in the north, Mozambique through Kruger National Park in the east and Botswana in the north west.
Vhembe District Municipality with its head quarters in Thohoyandou was established in 2000 through the process of transformation of Local Government. It was established in terms of Municipal Structures Act 117 of 1998 as a demarcated sphere of governance. It is composed of four local municipalities, namely; Makhado, Musina,Thulamela and Collins Chabane. It covers 21 407 km2 and has population of over 1.1 million living in 274 480 households.

Vhembe is a Venda name for what is also known as the Limpopo River.
BURSARY DESCRIPTION
Vhembe municipality bursaries applications are invited from disadvantage students who are pursuing or intend to pursue different fields of study at the tertiary institution of their choices.
Vhembe municipality bursary application forms are available at Vhembe District Municipality and all four Local Municipalities namely; Musina, Makhado, Thulamela and Collins Chabane.

BURSARIES AVAILABLE
The bursary fund covers the following fields of study:- Diploma and Bachelor (BSc) (Administration
- Hydrology and Water Management
- Environmental/Disaster/Waste Management
- Regional and Town planning.
- Engineering: Civil/Electrical/Mining/Mechanical/and Chemical
- Finance: Financial Accounting, B Com Accounting and Auditing
- Economics: Economics and Business Management, Tourism, Agriculture and Information Technology.
ELIGIBILITY
Complete application forms should be accompanied by certified grade 12 June results, certified academic records(tertiary students), an affidavit from unemployed parents, certified copy of ID/birth certificate of students and parents, letter of reference from School Principal (for Grade 12) and proof of residence from Head man, Civic or SANCO.
The bursary application closing date for the submission of Mayoral bursary fund is the 29th November 2019 and any enquiries can be directed to the Executive Mayor’s office at 015 960 2008/2012.
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
- Reside within the Vhembe District area
- Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Studying or intend on studying at a recognised tertiary institute in South Africa
