BMF and Wits Partner For Postgraduates Bursary Programme

The Black Management Forum and Wits University have signed an agreement aimed at creating a bursary for postgraduate students. The bursary will enable BMF members to study for a postgraduate diploma in business administration or a master's of business administration (MBA) at the Wits Business School.

“The BMF has played a critical role in South Africa over the decades in nurturing a culture of excellence among black managers and leaders. This partnership represents a meeting of minds as we both strive towards nurturing and mentoring the next generation of leaders, and by so doing honouring the vision of the founding fathers of the BMF,” said Radebe.

BMF president Andile Nomlala said the education that members will receive from Wits will equip them with problem-solving skills. 

“At BMF we are no longer looking at a narrow agenda of transformation in corporate South Africa alone, we now have a bigger responsibility of looking at transformation in the broader South African context. We now need to move forward with a critical mass of capable, skilled, well-equipped, well-grounded and ethical leaders, rather than drown in politically driven cadre deployment," he said.

This is achieved through water replenishment, packaging recycling, sustainable sourcing practices and carbon emissions reductions across their value chain.

Bursary Description

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa intends awarding bursaries to learners who have successfully completed their Matric/Grade 12. The funding opportunites are for students who have enrolled for 2022 academic year and meet bursary requirements set out by Cocal Cola.

The company is looking to assist about 70 applicants coming from 14 host communities.

The bursary amount that Coca  Cola allocates may vary each year depending on the companies discretion and budget allocation.

Study Options

The bursary recipients for year 2022 are about 70 students who completed their Matric/Grade 12 in 2021. They will be selected from these 14 host communities: Duduza, Alexandra, Ratanda, Korsten, (Inanda, Kwamashu, Ntuzuma), Eldorado, Seshego, Elrichpark, Grabouw, Kensington, Motsoaledi, Freedom Park, Tembisa and Tswelopele. 

There will be 5 recipients from each of these 14 communities to make up the total of 70 learners.

ELIGIBILITY

Year 2022 bursary reciepients must come from these communities:

Tswelopele, Tembisa, Seshego, Freedom Park, Korsten, Motsoaledi, Elrich Park, Kensington,  Ntuzuma, Inanda, Kwamashu, Gomora, Duduza, Ratanda, Grabow and Eldorado.

Five bursary recipients will be picked from each of the host communities where they are located, making it a total of seventy (70) bursary recipients.

COCA COLA BEVERAGES APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

• You must have completed Matric/Grade12 certificate (statement of results)
• Applicants must originate/reside in one of the listed host communities
• You must be pursuing or enrolled for a qualification in ANY field, in academic year 2022
• You must be accepted to study in one of recognised/accredited tertiary institution in the country (SA)

HOW TO APPLY?

Students who are interested must apply by submitting certified copies of the following documents:

• Matric/Grade12 certificate, if available (certified copy)
• Matric/Grade 12 preliminary or final results, if certificate is not received (certified copy)
• State in a motivational letter why you should be selected to receive the bursary (maximum 300 words)
• Your school full name

This bursary is unique in that there is no application form that needs to be completed. Interested applicants must just submit the list of above documents in order to apply.

WHO IS THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND LAND REFORM?

The mission of the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) is to initiate, facilitate, coordinate, catalyse and implement an integrated rural development programme.

The Department's strategic objectives are: corporate governance and service excellence through compliance within the legal framework; land administration and spatial planning for integrated and sustainable growth and development, with a bias towards rural areas; equitable access to and sustainable use of land for development; improved rural services to support sustainable livelihoods; improved access to sustainable employment and skills development opportunities; promotion of economically, socially and environmentally viable rural enterprises and industries; and restoration of land rights.

In 2021 the Department of Agriculture and Land Reform signalled that it intended awarding bursaries to students who intend furthering their studies in institutions of higher learning. The Department issued an advert for the bursary and also the application form in a PDF format.
