WHO IS RAILWAY SAFETY REGULATOR?


The mission of the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) is to oversee and promote safe railway operations through appropriate support, monitoring and enforcement, guided by an enabling regulatory framework.

The RSR's functions are to: oversee the safety of railway transport, while operators remain responsible for managing the safety of its operations; promote improved safety performance in order to encourage the use of rail; monitor and ensure compliance through conducting audits, inspections and occurrence investigations; develop regulations; conclude appropriate cooperative agreements or other arrangements with organs of state to ensure effective management of safe railway operations; and promote the harmonisation of the railway safety regime of South Africa with SADC railway operations.

BURSARY DESCRIPTION 

The Railway Safety Regulator invites 3rd year students currently registered at tertiary institutions in South Africa to apply for bursaries. 

BURSARY COVERS 

  • Tuition Fee
  • Registration Fee
  • Accommodation and Meals 
The bursary cover is reviewed each year and adjusted where necessary.

BURSARIES AVAILABLE

Students should be studying towards a qualification in the following fields:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering

ELIGILIBITY

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must not be in a possession of any financial sponsorship or bursary
  • Proof of registration from an academic institution
  • Up to date academic record
  • Certified copy of Identity Document
  • Brief curriculum vitae
  • Motivational letter
  • Hand written completed and signed application form
Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted applicants. Preference will be given to applicants from previously disadvantaged communities, females, persons with disabilities and the youth.

  • Motivational letter to support your application, stating why you should be awarded the bursary
