WHO IS ESKOM?

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is South Africa's primary electricity supplier, generating approximately 90% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 30% of the electricity generated on the African continent.


ESKOM BURSARY DESCRIPTION

Eskom regards the awarding of bursaries to external applicants as a major contribution towards broadening the national skills pool. Eskom believes that this initiative will lead to empowered communities, an improved lifestyle, and a competent workforce.


This procedure has been developed to enable Eskom to meet its business objectives regarding future skills requirements, thereby giving structure to the skills pipeline. To this end, bursaries based on business needs are awarded to candidates intending to study at recognised higher education institutions.

ELIGIBILITY 

Applicants must be a South African citizen with a valid ID.
Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate or equivalent. 
Applicants must have a written proof of acceptance of admission by the institution of higher learning.
Applicants must be for full time studies at an accredited South African institution of higher learning.
Applicants must be willing to undergo an interview and medical examination or health declaration.

Applicants to study at a Universities must obtain the following results on the following subjects:

  • English - Higher Grade (C) or Level 5
  • Mathematics - Higher Grade (C) or Level 5
  • Physical Science - Higher Grade (C) or Level 5

Applicants to study at a University of Technology must obtain the following results on the following subjects:

  • English - Higher Grade (D) or Standard Grade (C) or  Level 4
  • Mathematics -  Higher Grade (D) or Standard Grade (C) or Level 4
  • Physical Science - Higher Grade (D) or Standard Grade (C) or Level 4

Applicants to study at a Further Education and Training (FET) must obtain the following results on the following subjects:

  • English - Higher Grade (E) or Standard Grade (D) or  Level 3
  • Mathematics -  Higher Grade (E) or Standard Grade (D) or Level 3
  • Physical Science - Higher Grade (E) or Standard Grade (D) or Level 3

Applicants must have passed all registered subject in that current year of study
