EWSETA Bursary Programme 2023

The mission of the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) is: comprehensive research and a sound understanding of the skills demand and supply forces in its sector; coordinating, facilitating and providing quality assurance for sector relevant skills development programmes for its stakeholders, aligned with stated national skills development priorities; and establishing a sector skills pipeline with a positive impact on government's economic growth policies, employment creation and the eradication of poverty.

EWSETA's responsibility is to manage skills development through strategic sector skills planning within the framework of the National Skills Development Strategy III. This includes developing a sector skills plan and implementing the sector skills plan by: establishing learning programmes; approving Workplace Skills Plans and the Annual Training Report; allocating grants to employers, education and training, providers, and workers; monitoring education and training in the sector; registering learning programme agreements; and promoting learnerships and other training programmes.

The role of EWSETA also includes facilitating the creation of learnerships with employers in the sector via the following: finding workplaces where learners can do practical work; supporting people who create learning material; helping to wrap up learnership agreements; and registering learnership agreements.

BURSARY DESCRIPTION

EWSETA which stands for Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority is a skills development organization providing services for the energy and water sectors. It is one of 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities SETAs established in South Africa.

Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) aim to address the skills gap facing the country and enhancing skills in the different sectors of the economy.

  • Applicant must be currently studying OR accepted to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution (university or TVET College)
  • Applicant must be currently studying OR accepted to study within the Energy and Water sector
  • Preference will be given to students from previously disadvantaged communities (youth, black, female) and students with disabilities

Each year, Starke Ayres awards bursaries to students pursuing studies within the agricultural industry, with the aim of attracting exceptional students, who are talented and passionate about agriculture.

WHO IS KWA-ZULU NATAL DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SETTLEMENT?

The mission of the Department is to transform human settlements into liveable neighbourhoods through integrated human settlements programmes in areas with major economic opportunities and empowerment of all designated groups.

The Department recognises infrastructure development as a fundamental driver to accelerate the country’s economic recovery. This, together with implementing interventions to create sustainable jobs and promote inclusive growth as well as building a capable, ethical and developmental state, ensures that the Department positively contributes to the promotion of an inclusive and equal society. In response to the current socio-economic environment, the upgrading of informal settlements and provision of permanent services as well as social/rental and community residential units, fast tracking of the Title Deeds Restoration Programme and upscaling of the Serviced Sites Programme remain key priority areas for the Department. The availability of land for self-build projects is also a key intervention to assist those who can afford to build their own homes.

BURSARY DESCRIPTION 

The bursary is offered to qualifying applicants who resides in the Province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged applicants with excellent academic records. Applicants must be studying or intend to studying at an accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa.

WHO IS MOTSEPE FOUNDATION?


The Motsepe Foundation was established in 1999 by business leader Patrice Motsepe and his wife, Dr Precious Motsepe.

The principal aim and object of the Motsepe Foundation is to establish a fund and organisation to provide funding and support for charitable, educational, religious, healthcare and other philanthropic projects and initiatives in order to fight poverty and improve the social and economic conditions of the poor, unemployed and marginalised persons and communities.

ABOUT SAPPI BURSARIES


Sappi offers full financial sponsorship to selected individuals. These individuals need to apply formally to the HR-department for a bursary wherefrom, based on academic and phsycometric testing results, individuals would be selected and fully supported with all study related costs.

Furthering your studies can amount into a costly account. But students must not be perturbed with costs as the costs must be viewed as a lucrative investment in your future which projects good returns, both in financial security as well as personal fulfilment.

A year of full-time studies including accommodation, meals and pocket money can amount to R50 000 per year at the above institutions. A more detailed breakdown of the costs can be attained from the Universities.

SAPPI bursary scheme is intended to cater for talented, high flyers and innovative young South African citizens.

It is a talent-based approached where applicants who meet the minimum criteria may be invited to a selection interview.

  • Applicants must be South African citizens
  • Applicants must have an average of 70-80% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), 70-80% in Physical Science, and 60% in English.
  • Applicants must have qualifying points for entrance at the university, or acceptance for admission at the university.
  • Current university results will be considered for undergraduate students. 

Note that preference will be given to learners with an average of 75% and above in Mathematics and Physical Science.
